Succulents and Air Plants are getting more popular and are such a unique and easy way to add life in your home. One of the best things about them is they are low maintanence, you can neglect them, and they will still love you!
Air Plants are a great because they can live on any surface, they don't need soil so can get really creative with how you display them. Air plant maintanence requires bright light, but direct sunlight is too intense for them. You want to water them once a week by soaking it in water for about 30 minutes. Throughout the week you can mist them with water when they are looking a little dry.
You can buy Air Plants at a garden store, or West Elm for about $4-$10 each. West Elm also has some really cool display options for them.
Succulents are such pretty potted plants that come in lots of shades of pastel blues and greens. They enjoy sunlight but not direct midday sun, it can burn them out. During the summer succulents should be watered about once a week; Soaking the plant in water rather than dumping a glass full into the soil. But in the winter when it's colder the plants go into a resting stage and you can neglect them quite a bit, watering them less often, letting the soil dry out in between.
*If the plants aren't getting enough light they can etoliate and start to "reach" for the light. The plant can start to suffer, so when you transition it to more light make sure you do it slowly so that it doesn't scorch.
Have fun and get creative with your displays!
